Skip to the content Skip to the Navigation News & TopicsAboutHistoryCurriculum ＆ SyllabusesCoursesAEL ForumNewsletterAELC AlumniPartner Universities News & Topics HOME News & Topics 2024/01/15 News & Topics Asia Education Leader Course 2024 Winter Course was successfully jointly hosted by National Chengchi University and National Taiwan Normal University (Dec. 26, 2023- Jan. 5, 2024) The AEL 2024 Winter Course was successfully jointly hosted by National Chengchi University (NCCU) and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) between December 26, 2023 and January 5, 2024. The host universities provided three subjects for this winter course, including the A-P subject (Affective Dimensions in ICT-supported and STEM Education), the K-P subject (Essentials of Leadership and Group Dynamics), and the S-P subject (Emotional and Behavioral Problems in Adolescents). Forty-six students from AEL partner universities joined the hybrid winter course. Besides, this winter course marks an important start of the AELC 2024-2025, enhancing collaboration and exchange between AELC partner universities.   The A-P subject was held at the National Taiwan Normal University between Dec. 26 and 28. The three-day course encompassed discussions on the key concepts and constructs of affections in learning. These discussions included explorations of conceptions of learning, motivations, self-efficacy in science and programming, engagement, and the emotions associated with learning.     Following the A-P subject, the K-P subject was held at National Chengchi University from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31. This course focused on exploring the knowledge, skills, and strategies essential for becoming an effective leader and a valuable team member in today&＃39;s dynamic and interconnected environment. It also provided the opportunity to enhance communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills by combining individual and group activities coupled with theoretical insights.     With the enriched knowledge and experience obtained in the A-P and K-P subjects, participant students celebrated the New Year countdown and watched the fireworks display from Taipei 101 Tower. On January 1 and 2, students had opportunities for cultural exchange, guided by the Taiwanese students from the host university. The students visited cultural and historical sites such as the National Palace Museum andthe towns of Jiufen and Shifen. They also experienced the activity of flying paper lanterns in the night sky. These cultural experiences broadened the students&＃39; understanding of Taiwanese culture and fostered international friendships and learning.   Finally, the S-P subject took place at National Chengchi University between Jan. 3 and 5. This subject focused on the investigation of the challenges and stresses faced by adolescents, including depression, drug abuse, gang involvement, suicide, and other emotional and behavioral problems, by using the ecological model. It also included discussions on the challenges and issues adolescents face and examined both school- and community-based prevention programs, focusing on fostering positive youth development and resiliency.
