It was so exciting for all participants as the summer course was the first face-to-face AELC since the pandemic. The host university provided three subjects for this summer course, including S-P Subject (Research Methods in Counseling), K-P Subject (Career Development and Counseling), and A-P Subject (Comparative Education: Issues from International Large-scale Assessments). 45 students from AEL partner universities joined this face-to-face summer course.     The S-P (Skill-Practice) subject of research methods in counseling was held during Aug. 16 and 18. In the three-day course, we discussed various methodological issues in conducting research with human subjects. The discussions contain explorations of understanding strengths, weaknesses, and challenges of various research methods, choosing and designing appropriate research methods for our own research, and critiquing others’ research in terms of their methodologies.     After implementing the S-P (Skill-Practice) subject, the K-P (Knowledge-Practice) subject of career development and counseling was held from Aug. 21 to Aug. 23. In this course, we learned about major career development theories and applied the theories to practices. Also, we had the opportunity to enrich our learning experience by visiting the Korea University Museum on the first day of the K-P subject. This experience added a practical dimension to our academic journey, allowing us to witness the real-world applications of the knowledge we&＃39;ve been acquiring in the K-P subject.       Finally, the A-P (Attitude-Practice) subject of comparative education, focusing on issues from international large-scale assessments was held between Aug. 24 and 26. In the A-P subject, we learned about various aspects of comparative education, including the purposes, methodological aspects, and critical issues of comparative education and the educational phenomena and systems in the East Asian region. Also, the subject offered the knowledge of international large-scale assessments (ILSAs) coordinated by International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The lecture focused on extracting the core themes and implications of the selected ILSAs for education. Moreover, by engaging in discussions and presentations, we developed an understanding of cultural influences on education in different contexts.     We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the coordinator and lecturers who kindly supported and contributed to this course at Korea University!
