Additionally, NEDO will develop technologies and production processes or inspection techniques that enable deployment in applications other than conventional ones and support mass production. The specific research and development items are as follows. Research and Development R&D Item [1] Development of Fundamental Technologies for Solving Common Fuel Cell Challenges NEDO aims to implement Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) and Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) in fuel cell vehicles (FCV) and for industrial and business applications after 2030. Therefore, NEDO will develop elemental technologies related to Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) and Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). R&D Item [2] Technology Development for Advancement of Hydrogen Utilization NEDO will develop technologies that contribute to the advancement of various hydrogen-related technologies, such as hydrogen storage-related technologies and water electrolysis technologies, to further reduce costs, enhance performance, and increase the durability of fuel cell systems after2030. Additionally, NEDO will develop innovative elemental technologies that contribute to achieving fuel cells surpassing performance and cost targets. R&D Item [3] Technology Development for Diversifying Fuel Cell Use To achieve the versatile deployment of fuel cell units and similar technologies by 2030, NEDO will conduct demonstration projects that include energy management elements. Additionally, NEDO will develop innovative production technologies to achieve cost reductions in fuel cell systems and water electrolysis systems. In this project, the world's first successful development and demonstration test of an RTGC1 equipped with an FC2 Power Pack were achieved. (*Image provided by the grantee, Mitsui E&S Co., Ltd.)
